Happenings on campus

Check out our Master Calendar to see what is happening on campus this week. We've got athletics, clubs, concerts, karaoke, camping trips, speakers and plays. Or maybe you just want to chill with some friends in their apartment. Or ride your bikes to the beach. It's up to you and you'll find no shortage of options.

Clubs

Student Activities and Leadership Development coordinates many of these activities and oversees the more than 50 student clubs and organizations representing interests from anime to men's volleyball. Some are cultural, some artistic, some political, some academic and some purely social. Plus, new clubs form every year, so if you don't see a group you want to join, you can always start your own.

Student Government

Associated Students is the official voice of students on campus. In addition to organizing many campus events and fostered Otter Pride, they work to represent students on issues facing the CSUMB campus and the CSU system as a whole.

Athletics

CSUMB fields 12 NCAA Division II Athletic teams, and the spirited fans known as the Blue Crue cheer them on. We also offer intramurals and club sports.

Go play outside

Cal State Monterey Bay is smack in the middle of one of the best areas for outdoor recreation in the world. You can sail on the Monterey Bay, mountain bike the oak woodlands of the Fort Ord backcountry, hike the redwood forests of Big Sur, or soak in the hot springs of Ventana Wilderness. Check the Outdoor Recreation website to see what activities are coming up.

Head to town

Cal State Monterey Bay neighbors several communities, each with it's own attractions. For nightlife,  students hit Monterey's Alvarado Street or Cannery Row. For a taste of the lifestyles of the rich and famous, its fun to browse the designer boutiques, galleries, and fancy restaurants on Ocean Avenue in Carmel. Old Town Salinas offers coffee shops, a movie theater, and rotating exhibits at the National Steinbeck Center. And when you need to grab groceries or a quick bite to eat, our closest neighbor, Marina, has you covered. Even if you don't have a car, there are several alternative transportation options to get anywhere you need to go.
